Early in 2017 Nihilio guitarist Nate Washburn and bassist Dan Noethe started throwing around the idea of recording a few old Nihilio songs that never ended up getting a proper release. In the waning months of the band a lot of new material was in live rotation but the Band fell apart before any plans for recording would come to fruition. After a couple FaceTime calls we got singer Ryan Menghini on board and we knew we had a real shot to recapture the Nihilio vibe.

Nate has worked at Glow In The Dark Studios for the past 3 years so the 3 dudes carved out a handful of days in September to meet in Atlanta and do the basic tracking. Nate worked on demos and kicked them back and forth between members and when the time came we recruited Dan's younger brother Nick to come a jam out the drums. We took a couple days to knock out the bass and guitars and Ryan flew in from LA on the last day to track his vocals.

All told we ended up with these 4 songs, two of which are based on old songs we used to play back in the day and other two are entirely new compositions. Are these songs a perfect encapsulation of what Nihilio was in 2009? Probably not. But we wanted to make something that felt at least somewhat fresh to us without throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Anyway we hope everyone cranks it up loud and enjoys the tunes.

In the fall of 2006 Nihilio was formed at North Central University in Minneapolis. We rode the wave of screamo and alternative rock bands in the mid 2000's. The band played locally throughout 2007 and did an east coast tour in 2008 before disbanding in mid 2009.
